Scenes from Historic Milledgeville, Georgia
established 1803

Columns

Intricately designed Corinthian capitols adorn the columns of this building located on the Georgia College & State University campus, founded in 1889.
As a former Artist in Residence, Stan's career with GC&SU included teaching art classes, guest lecturing for events, and sponsoring art shows for fundraisers. He was awarded an honorary professorship for his many achievements and contributions to the College.

The Old State Capitol building, originally constructed in 1804, became Middle Georgia Military and Agricultural College in 1878. Later renamed Georgia Military College, the structure suffered significant fire damage in 1941. Through several renovations, and more recently a multi-million dollar restoration, the Old State Capitol building remains the only previous state capitol building still standing today.
As an alumni of GMC High School, Stan enjoys visiting the campus and his many faculty associations there.

Governor's Mansion
The Old Governor's Mansion, part of Georgia College & State University campus. In addition to being home to eight Georgia governors, it also served as barracks to Georgia Military College cadets and the original building for Georgia Normal and Industrial College, now known as GC&SU. Stan is currently working with the Mansion on several projects, including portraits of former governors who resided there.
In historic downtown Milledgeville, many fine examples of Greek-Revival and Federal period architecture from the 1800's still exist in all of their beauty. The details of these stately manors inspire many of Stan's plantation-style images.
